Being part of music at McKendree UMC is active, engaging and rewarding! When we join our voices together to bring glory and honor to God, our hearts are lifted! Singing and playing instruments are good for the body, mind, soul and spirit.
Chancel Choir
Open to ALL who love to sing! The Chancel Choir sings at 11am worship almost every Sunday as well as special music opportunities throughout the year. Rehearsal: Wednesday 7pm - 8:30pm.
9:30 Worship Praise Team
Some of the finest praise and worship music you'll ever hear on Sunday morning! Led by Jessica Fore, McKendree is blessed with an outstanding praise team. Instrumentalists and vocalists interested in singing and leading worship are encouraged to audition. Members are scheduled on a rotating basis. Contact Jessica Fore for more information. Rehearsal: Sunday 12:30pm.
McKendree UMC Orchestra
Whether you currently play in a school orchestra, or haven't played in years - you are invited! The orchestra is currently comprised of flutes, oboe, alto sax, clarinet, trumpet, french horn, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, and percussion. We would love to add to every section as well as add new instruments! The orchestra plays about 6 times per year as well as special Sundays including Easter and Christmas. Rehearsal: Sunday 2:00pm - 3:30pm in the sanctuary.
McKendree UMC Ringers
With 5 octaves of handbells, there’s room for lots of ringers! And if you can count to four, then you can ring a handbell. This group plays about 6 times throughout the school year as well as during the Christmas and Easter seasons. Rehearsal: Sundays 12:30pm - 1:30pm, room 318 in the Education Building.
Youth Music
The Way: Youth Praise Team
The youth praise team is made up of instrumentalists and vocalists that lead the youth worship in music every Sunday evening. Members are scheduled on a rotating basis. The Way also performs at 9:30am church worship on occasion. In addition to the performers, we rely on an extensive A/V team to keep things running smoothly! Youth Handbells
This bell choir is for students in 5th through 12th grade and performs for worship services on Sunday mornings and throughout the year. Rehearsals provide a foundation for musical performance including music theory, sight reading, musical notation and proper technique. Rehearsals: Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:30pm in room 318.
Children’s Music
CHILDREN’S CHOIR
Wednesday nights 5:45-6:30pm for ages 3 yrs-5th in room 317 (6th graders are welcome!) We sing in worship about once a month.
KIDS CHIMES
2nd-4th Grade - Wednesdays from 6:30 - 7:00pm in room 318
The MUMC Chimers learn the basic functions of musical elements and how to read, understand, and create music. Together, the MUMC Chimers create worship music while learning how to be musically literate and rhythmically accurate.
