Who will you forgive for Lent? In this image, two people are turned from one another. But inside, they reach toward one another.

Our relationship with God is closely related to our relationship with other people. Jesus said the Greatest Command has two parts: Love God and love your neighbors.

Dealing with people can be difficult. Maybe that’s why when the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, he said when you pray to include “forgive our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.”

It’s hard to be present with other people when you’re holding a grudge or feeling resentful. Even trauma from long ago hurts can affect the way you react to people today.

Pastor Cyndi describes the Lenten journey.

We hope you’ll be part of the worship services on Sunday morning when the sermons and prayers emphasize forgiveness. We’ll also provide resources like a weekly handout on forgiveness. Small groups will meet to discuss these, and if there isn’t one at a time or location that’s good for you, we’ll provide resources so you and a group of friends can do this at a time together. You can sign up for 40 days of daily texts at noon, with a verse or thought encouraging us in our relationships with God and others.

We don’t want this to be like New Year’s resolutions that are over within a week or two. Or a day or two. But a 40 day growing season to ask, “How is it with your soul?” and to help one another.
