McKendree UMC is excited for VBS this summer! The theme is Stellar: Launching kids on a cosmic quest where they’ll have a blast shining Jesus’ light to the world!
VBS is for kids ages rising PreK (4yrs) through 6th grade. Each day builds on a simple phrase that reinforces a Bible lesson and includes music, games, snacks, and much more. Learn more.

Prayer Walk
McKendree UMC is hosting a prayer walk on the church grounds in observance of the National Day of Prayer. All are invited on May 1 at 6:00 p.m. Stop by the welcome desk for a map and prayer guide. Walk around the church alone or in groups, and pray for McKendree UMC and for the community. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with others and seek God's blessings for the needs around us. Sunday Worship- Pentecost (wear flame colors!)
May 18th is Pentecost Sunday.
Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples after His Ascension, it is held on the seventh Sunday after Easter. In honor of this, it is tradition to wear flame colors to church to signify the presence of the Holy Spirit in our community and our unity in Christ. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.

LEADERSHIP COUNCIL MEETING

Food Drive for LAWRENCEVILLE CO-OP
Make a difference in the community by being part of the Sunday, April 21, 2024 food drive for Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry. Together, we can make a significant impact and help those in need within our community. Bring toiletries and/or nonperishable food items to the Fellowship Hall the morning of the food drive OR at any time leave donations in the grocery cart outside the back of the church (under the covered entrance at the rear of the building). Family Promise Bed Race
McKendree’s Student Ministry and supporters will participate in the annual Bed Race to benefit Family Promise of Gwinnett on Saturday, April 20 at 10:30 a.m. on the Lawrenceville Square. Come cheer them on!
GENERAL CONFERENCE INFORMATION SESSION
Join fellow church members for an information session about the General Conference meeting.* We'll meet on Wednesday, April 17th, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in room 311 of the Education Building. The session will cover topics such as how the United Methodist Church makes decisions, who can submit petitions, and the four major items of legislation that will be considered during the conference.
*The 2024 General Conference of The United Methodist Church will be in Charlotte, North Carolina, from April 23 to May 3. This global gathering happens every four years and includes lay and clergy delegates who officially represent our entire denomination. Be informed about General Conference.

Volunteer Appreciation Sunday
Giving thanks for all the incredible volunteers that make McKendree so special!
Volunteers are the heart of McKendree. Thanks to you, we have amazing children’s, youth, music, educational, and outreach programs. On Sunday, April 14, volunteers will be recognized during the worship service and refreshments will be served outside of the service in the Fellowship Hall.

Workshop with Upper Room Author Kristen Vincent
“Recovering from trauma and the spiritual practices that aid in healing & forgiveness” Workshop with Kristen Vincent. A light lunch will be provided.
Kristen E. Vincent is an award-winning author and speaker who is passionate about helping people discover God's deep love for them. She has worked with the Veterans Administration for many years, leading workshops for veterans with PTSD, and also works with runaways who have been sex trafficked. She will talk about her childhood trauma, and the spiritual practices and lessons learned that helped her find healing and the ability to forgive.

Stations of the Cross
Open daily from 3-7pm
In this prayerful journey, participants move from one station to the next, experiencing Jesus’ last hours with art, scripture, devotions and interactive elements. Each station reflects a moment in the gospel story from Jesus entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday to the women going to the tomb early on Easter morning.
Palm Procession and Easter Cantata
A glorious celebration at both 9:30 and 11 am worship services. Worship opens with children processing with palms followed by a musical journey to the cross and resurrection. Both services feature both the choir and orchestra. Learn more
Holy Week at McKendree

Solve the mystery of “A Not So Terrible Parable!” Bring your friends, family, teachers and neighbors to come see our McKendree kids shine in their annual spring musical. This dynamic musical about the Good Samaritan will be performed in the Sanctuary after Wednesday Night Supper at 6:00 p.m. Come and celebrate all their hard work with them afterwards in the Fellowship Hall for an Ice Cream Social. Great Day of Service
McKendree's Great Day of Service is a time to be the hands and feet of Jesus! Breakfast starts at 8:00 a.m. before projects begin. This year this date coincides with our Spring Beautification Day! For details and to signup.

Did you know eleven congregation members are homebound and find it difficult to attend church regularly? You can make a significant difference in their lives by joining the Lay Visitation Ministry. You and a partner will visit them in their homes to offer fellowship, devotion, and prayer. We will provide you with the necessary training to positively impact these precious souls' lives. You will also receive a blessing as you bless others. If you are interested in signing up, please email the church office.

VOLUNTEER WORKDAYS AT UMCOR - ATLANTA DISASTER RELIEF WAREHOUSE
Have you ever wondered what happens to the cleaning buckets and hygiene kits that we packed for UMCOR at our Great Day of Service events? Do you want to help at the warehouse to get these supplies closer to the disaster victims? Here is an opportunity for you to serve at the UMCOR Disaster Relief Warehouse in Atlanta/East Point, GA - Saturday, February 24th. Learn more and signup.

When you serve at Rainbow Village, you’ll be the one blessed! This Duluth ministry serves families with children who are experiencing homelessness or who are imminently facing homelessness. Help McKendree UMC prepare and/or serve dinner, usually the 4th Thursday of the month. More information.
