Some of the finest praise and worship music you'll ever hear on Sunday morning! Led by Devon Patrick, McKendree is blessed with an outstanding praise team. Whether you are currently playing in a school orchestra, or haven't played in years - you are invited to join us! The orchestra is currently comprised of flutes, soprano and alto sax, clarinet, trumpet, french horn, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, and percussion. We would love to add to every section as well as add new instruments! The orchestra plays about 6 times per year as well as special Sundays including Easter and Christmas. We are blessed with 5 octaves of handbells! That means we have room for lots of ringers! And if you can count to four, then you can ring a handbell. The Way: Youth Praise Team
Under the direction of Emilee Allen, Youth Music Coordinator, the youth praise team is made up of instrumentalists and vocalists that lead the youth worship in music every Sunday evening. Members are scheduled on a rotating basis. The Way also performs at 9:30am church worship on occasion. In addition to the performers, we rely on an extensive A/V team to keep things running smoothly! This is an open group for all who love to sing. Under the direction of Emilee Allen, the MUMC Youth Choir aims to teach our youth about musical literacy, teamwork, and creating a joyful noise in the name of the Lord. This choir is open to 7th-12th graders who want to learn more about music and worship. Rehearsal: Wednesday 5:45-6:30pm.
This bell choir is for students in 5th through 12th grade and performs for worship services on Sunday mornings and throughout the year. Rehearsals provide a foundation for musical performance including music theory, sight reading, musical notation and proper technique. Rehearsal: Wednesday 6:30-7:00pm.
KLUB JAM! Wednesdays from 5:45-6:30 for ages Kindergarten through 6th grade.
We also offer choir for 3 & 4 year olds from 6-6:30pm on Wednesday nights.
Our teachers use fun games and group activities to teach songs about Jesus, the Bible and our faith. The choir sings in worship several times throughout the year, leads worship at the Children's Sabbath service once a year, participates in the Family Christmas Eve service, and has a spring musical each year. KIDS CHIMES Wednesdays 6:30-7:00pm, 2nd-4th Grade
Under the direction of Emilee Allen, the MUMC Chimers learn the basic functions of musical elements and how to read, understand, and create music. Together, the MUMC Chimers create worship music while learning how to be musically literate and rhythmically accurate.
