McKendree UMC is made for families with young children! We offer many opportunities for them to learn about the power of God's love. Headed up by Lisa Engberg and Susan Rowe, they are always looking for new ways to engage our young kids and get them excited about coming to church. Don't hesitate to reach out to Lisa or Susan if you have questions about the programs listed below or would like to get involved.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR KIDS
As we've mentioned, there are lots of ways McKendree UMC helps build a strong foundation of faith for kids! Look for information on these and other yearly program available to your kids:
Learning to Use My Bible: This class is specifically for those students who have recently received their first Bible from McKendree UMC. Children learn the books of the Bible, the types of literature the Bible offers and where these are found in the Bible. The curriculum includes music, crafts, games and other activities to assist students in becoming familiar with the Bible.
Touch the Water, Taste the Bread: This four-week session is an age-appropriate way to teach young children about baptism and communion. The children partake in communion in the sanctuary for the first time after they have completed this class. *Children of all ages are always welcome to celebrate Communion in the Sanctuary with their families.*
Please Note: McKendree UMC is a “Safe Sanctuaries” church. For the safety of our children and workers, each teaching volunteer must be a member or constituent for at least 6 months. In addition, all regular volunteers are required to provide references, submit to a criminal background check and attend “Safe Sanctuaries” training. Furthermore, all classrooms will have at least 2 unrelated adults at all times when children are present. To view our full Safe Sanctuary Policy click the button below.
